Founding Chair James Huniford and Honorary Chair Lara Spencer, Co-host on ABC’s Good Morning America, along with Co-chairs Michael Boodro, Editor in Chief,ELLE DECOR, Todd Oldham, Designer and President of L-7 Designs Inc., George Oliphant, Host of NBC’s George to the Rescue, and Evette Rios, Interior Designer and Correspondent for ABC’s The Chew, hosted New York City’s most popular interior design shopping benefit.
Housing Works’ Eleventh Annual Design on a Dime. Held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea, The 3-day event featured over 60 of the world’s top interior designers, who create remarkable rooms with new merchandise–from furniture to art to home decor and beyond– which is donated and then sold for 50 – 70 percent off retail pricing!
The ticketed VIP Opening Night Reception attracted a star-studded crowd with A-list "style" enthusiasts mingling with top designers. Guests had the first public look at the well appointed rooms and enjoyed exclusive preview shopping, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment.
There was red-carpet madness when the cast from the popular HBO series "Girls" and business mogul and NY State First Girlfriend, Sandra Lee hit the step-n-repeat simultaneously. There were oooh's and ahhhh's as different celebrities werqed the red-carpet in their high fashion party attire. DJ tunes resonated cool dance anthems while guests rumbled with excitement at the spontaneous bargain shopping. Apparently, I'm not the only person who likes to drink and shop !!!
Over the course of two evenings I spotted model Martha Hunt, actress Allison Williams, Bravo stars Andy Cohen and Bevy Smith, NBC personalities George and Zoe Oliphant, NYDC President James Druckman, Barneys Creative Ambassador Simon Doonan, Hearst Honcho Newell Turner, Interior Designers; Charlotte Moss, Miles Redd, Robert Passal,Steve Henderson, Jamie Drake, Stephen Fanuka, Brett Beldock, Ken Fulk, Antonino Buzzetta, Danielle Colding, Sheila Bridges, Robin Baron, Ron Marvin, Jennifer Flanders, Industry Insiders; Malene B, Arlene Angard, Lisa McMahon, Steven Rappos, Sandra Stangl, Angel Naula and Richard Segal.
