The last episode of the #doad2015 season played at the Michael Aram and Lefroy Brooks Showrooms on West 18th Street in Manhattan.  The community that works so tirelessly to produce the extraordinarily popular "Design on a Dime" event were being acknowledge at this friendly conclave.

Housing Works remembers to thank those who help them succeed and surpass their goals. Design on a Dime is just one fabulous channel in an array of clever and entertaining efforts to raise money for their important mission.
.
Their mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain their efforts

Below are images of just a few from the vast community of volunteers and creative contributors who helped raise 1.3 million at #doad2015.  We spotted George and Zoe Oliphant, Michael Aram, Patrick Hamilton, Terry Eagle, Steven Fellin, Kat Lataillade, Becki Vicars, Lisa McMahon, Dwayne Clark, David Raper, Mel Alvarez, Angel Naula, Sherri Skov, Izzy Jimenez and Tamara Stephenson.

Housing Works pioneered the concept of social
enterprise–businesses whose profits fund the
mission of a parent not-for-profit organization.

This self-sustaining model provides employment
opportunities to the community in addition to fundraising.

Housing Works Thrift Shops, Housing Works Bookstore Cafe
and The Works Catering account for approximately
25% of our $43 million annual operating budget

Since 1990, HW has provided a
comprehensive array of services to more
than 20,000 homeless and low-income
New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.

HOUSING WORKS supportive services include but are not
limited to housing, healthcare, meals and
nutritional counseling, mental health and substance
use treatment, job training, and legal assistance

In 1995, Housing Works opened its first Thrift Shop,
a pioneering idea in thrift store retail:
Stylishly presented and frequently rotated merchandise
sold not at rock-bottom prices, but at irresistible-bargain prices.

The Thrift Shop proved it could raise significant amounts of revenue
for services for people living with HIV/AIDS.
The Thrift Shops
paved the way for other Housing Works social
enterprises, including our Bookstore Cafe.

At a public event earlier this year, Governor Cuomo again demonstrated his commitment to Ending the AIDS Epidemic
in New York State, by formally accepting a Blueprint for
Ending the Epidemic in NY State by 2020. Hundreds of
HIV/AIDS advocates including elected officials,
community leaders, and activists gathered at the
LGBT Center on 13th Street to
witness the Governor’s historic announcement.
